Bratislava, Slovakia

After Vienna is where the Danube way starts deteriorating. Poor signposting and a poorly maintained cycle path means that I spend some of the day on secondary roads with traffic whizzing by. Sometimes it is nice to ride more kilometres on the Danube way as it scenic, sheltered and free from traffic noise, but at this section it seems to have been little more than an afterthought.
I will stay with Nada for two nights. We spend the first evening walking around the city. It is similar in style to Vienna, but not so grand and also far fewer tourists. This means the city feels more relaxed and charming. However the city streets do not prove to be bicycle friendly and the city drivers not respectful of cyclists, giving very little room when overtaking. This means ploughing through the numerous potholes or swerving into a car's path.
