Pamplona

After a forced day rest, I am eager to escape this intense heat and get on the train to Pamplona. This time the Spanish fast trains are most welcoming of this weary traveller and his bike. Some curious looks from the train personnel, but once my bike is neatly stowed away in it's travel bag, there are no further issues. They even allow me to get onto the platform more than the standard 20 minutes prior to train departure, so that I have time to pack up.
The train to Pamplona is approximately 8 hours, but seems shorter. The mountainous terrain flies by the window and would have proven tough even had the weather been not so hot. Maybe next time.
I arrive in Pamplona in the early evening and bike toward the French border. I don't get a chance to check out the city centre, but am impressed by the cycling infrastructure here - completely separate cycleways which even have places to top up my water bottle... thank you Alba & Andrea.
After a short bike ride to eat up some of the elevation, I find one of my favourite camping spots this trip... quiet, flat ground.and easily accessible. I do however pick up some unwanted passengers and the next day I have to pick off about eight ticks.
