It is very hilly terrain between Pamplona and Bayonne in France. I guess crossing the Pyrenees is never an easy task - 1500m cumulative elevation over 70km, with some inclines up to 14%.
It is a rainy day and all my sleeping gear and clothes are pretty wet... partially my own fault for sleeping on the top of a hill in a thunderstorm. In spite of the damp and foggy conditions, this is the most scenic and peaceful day on the bike.
Julie (Couchsurfing) had invited me to stay with her for two nights in Bayonne and I look forward to a warm shower and the chance to dry all my gear. Wild camping is great but some basic necessities need to be fulfilled at least once a week on the road.
I spend the next day walking around Bayonne and marvelling at the biking infrastructure here - all the quaint inner town is inaccessible by motorised transport, so it is lovely and quiet.
There is lots of street art to view here around each corner.
